Sacramento City Council
Meet the elected officials representing Sacramento's eight council districts.
The Sacramento City Council is made up of the Mayor, elected at-large, and eight Council Members, elected by district. The Council establishes policies, enacts ordinances, adopts the budget, and represents the citizens of Sacramento.

Kevin McCarty
Kevin McCarty is the 57th Mayor of Sacramento, elected in December 2024. A lifelong Sacramentan, McCarty previously served on the Sacramento City Council from 2004 to 2014 and represented the city in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2024. Throughout his career, he has focused on affordable housing, public safety reform, and youth development.

Lisa Kaplan
Lisa Kaplan represents District 1, which includes Natomas and North Sacramento. She has a background in education and previously served on the Natomas Unified School District Board. Councilmember Kaplan is committed to improving public safety, addressing homelessness, and enhancing quality of life for residents.

Roger Dickinson
Roger Dickinson represents District 2, which includes Del Paso Heights and surrounding North Sacramento neighborhoods. A former Sacramento County Supervisor and State Assemblymember, Dickinson brings decades of public service experience and a strong focus on equity, housing, and safety.

Karina Talamantes
Karina Talamantes represents District 3, which includes East Sacramento, River Park, and parts of Midtown. She previously served as Chief of Staff to a County Supervisor and has experience in education policy. Councilmember Talamantes is focused on affordable housing, climate action, and community engagement.

Phil Pluckebaum
Phil Pluckebaum represents District 4, including Downtown, Midtown, and Land Park. He has experience in urban planning and public administration, and is focused on housing, sustainable infrastructure, and equitable economic growth.

Caity Maple
Caity Maple represents District 5, which includes Oak Park, Hollywood Park, and parts of South Sacramento. She has a background in nonprofit leadership and community advocacy. Councilmember Maple is committed to addressing homelessness, affordable housing, and neighborhood revitalization.

Eric Guerra
Eric Guerra represents District 6, which includes Tahoe Park, Colonial Heights, and parts of East Sacramento. He previously served as a legislative staffer and has experience in higher education policy. Councilmember Guerra focuses on neighborhood safety, economic development, and youth opportunities.

Rick Jennings II
Rick Jennings II represents District 7, which includes Pocket, Greenhaven, and Valley Hi. He is a former NFL player and has extensive experience in nonprofit leadership. Councilmember Jennings is dedicated to youth development, public safety, and economic opportunity.

Mai Vang
Mai Vang represents District 8, which includes Meadowview, Parkway, and Valley Hi/North Laguna. She has a background in education and community organizing. Councilmember Vang advocates for equitable development, youth opportunities, and environmental justice.
City Council Districts
The City of Sacramento is divided into eight council districts. Each district elects one council member to represent their area for a term of four years.
